MHE created the LED video umbrellas used in the handover ceremony of the OlympIc torch to London for the 2012 Games
The umbrellas consist of 585 pixel led's per umbrella each capable of being individually addressed. The umbrellas are connected using an Art-Net 100 baseT Ethernet backbone running 30 frames per second video imagery.
Each pixel measures 30mm by 30mm and can be linked together using ribbon cable to create variable pitch. This allows it to be fitted to flat, curved or moving surfaces.
Options include encapsulation to IP65 specification
The MHE-D3 Interface unit translates the Art-Net Ethernet packets to pixel imagery. MHE-D3 is also capable of storing video and still images for self contained shows. External trigger inputs can be used to synchronise the imagery.
